The schooling of vulnerable children in Cambodia

The schooling of vulnerable children in Cambodia

After one year of very hard work, the Daksosor village school has now 200 children…instead of 70 before !

Every two months we organize schooldays in the public schools we work with. These special days are important to keep in touch with the teachers and the people responsible for the 600 children we support and keep at school.

Enfants cambodgiens scolarisés par notre action humanitaire dans les villages et la localisation des enfants les plus pauvres dans la région de Battambang au Cambodge

Cambodian children in school through our humanitarian action in the villages and the location of the poorest children in the region of Battambang in Cambodia.

It is also a great opportunity to continue working on the change of mentality as well as supporting the families. During these schooling actions we not only bring food but also school supplies : notebooks, pens, erasers, uniforms, etc.…lay on the full bags of rice (over 9 tons distributed per year). Sometimes more than hundred families wait for us at the local school. It is an opportunity to meet the whole families and the children. We are then able to give some advice and to talk in favour of schooling; we explain the importance of education, why children should not miss school too often; we reward the best ones and give school reports. After one year of very hard work, the Daksosor village school has now 200 children…instead of 70 before ! AVEC intends to continue with these positive results!

What we will remember from this refuge is the joy and laughter of the children: these children who all come back from far away, have all lived through very difficult things, have found their childhood here…
